A Technical Seminar-Beyond Lubrication The Science of Refrigeration Oils by JAPAN SUN OIL COMPANY, LTD. which was organized on 27-8-2026 at ASHRAE Malaysia Chapter, Kelana Business Centre by Caldic (MYS) Sdn. Bhd. and Caldic Holdings Singapore Pte. Ltd.

The seminar venue was graciously provided by the co-organizer, ASHRAE Malaysia Chapter, whose support contributed significantly to the success of the event. The Chapter also arranged the Master of Ceremonies, while the closing address was delivered by Mr. Lim Tiong San, President-Elect (2026/27), who concluded the seminar with words of appreciation and encouragement.

Mr. Rei Saito (Manager, Technical Research Laboratory Japan Sun Oil Company Ltd.) put up an impressive insigthful presentation with packed of information on the Sunice brand Lubricant range of products and the applications for the system solutions with the support of  Mr. Michael Owen Pranoto (Japan Sun Oil - Overseas Sale).

SUNISO, originally developed in 1927 by Sun Oil Company (SUNOCO), holds a significant place in the history of refrigeration oils as one of the earliest products of its kind. Over the decades, the brand has undergone multiple ownership changes through mergers and acquisitions, reflecting its continued value within the industry.

 

In Japan, Japan Sun Oil Company (JSO) has played a central role since 1966, consistently manufacturing and supplying SUNISO products across the Asia-Pacific region. Despite changes in trademark ownership, JSO has maintained stable production quality and supported the brand’s reputation globally.

 

In recent developments, trademark rights for SUNISO have been consolidated under Petro-Canada Lubricants, with the licensing agreement with JSO set to conclude at the end of 2025. Following this transition, JSO will continue producing the same high-quality mineral refrigeration oil under its own brand, Sunice.

While the brand name will change, the formulation, production standards, and performance will remain consistent. This ensures continuity for customers and reinforces JSO’s long-standing contribution to the refrigeration industry.
